Across the Blue-Green Sea

ACROSS THE BLUE-GREEN SEA
(A Celebration of our National Parks)

There’s a land that calls to me
Far across the blue-green sea

Nature has worked to shape this land
In God’s eye it is more than grand

It’s a land where beauty is found
Crossed by rivers where lakes abound

It’s a land that calls to me
Far across the blue-green sea

Forests cover the northern expanse
On winter's stage the northern lights dance

Grasslands form an inland sea
An endless horizon without a tree

Mountains climb up to the sky
It’s a place where eagles fly

It’s a land that calls to me
Far across the blue-green sea

Crashing waves have cast cliff faces
Carving coves and secret places

Zephyrs give shape to a weathered terrain
Desert plants abide in a land without rain

Marshes and swamps lay near the southern coast
Moss laden trees make a ghostly host

It’s a land that calls to me
Far across the blue-green sea

Nature has worked to shape this land
To be a place that’s more than grand

It’s a land without despair
It’s a land that all can share

So take your time to look around
At a world that nature found

Poets praise this primordial place
Preserved in parks as a sacred space

It’s a gift for you and me
Just beyond the blue-green sea
